Worm Gear Units and Gearmotors in Single and Double Reduction

The Series A comes in Junior, Midrange, and
Heavy Duty ranges. Units can be mounted in the worm under, worm over and
gearshaft vertical mounting positions and provide a choice of shaft
arrangements. Series A gives a choice of 12 standard ratios from 5:1 to
70:1, 14 standard ratios in the Heavy Duty from 5:1 to 70:1.
Junior
Series A Junior is offered in unit sizes 280, 410, 510, 610, 730 and 860
based on a single universal case for each size, giving a high degree of
common parts and interchangeability. Motors can be close coupled in frame
sizes 56C to 215TC in powers from 0.19 kW or 0.25 HP to 7.5 kW or 10 HP.
All units are designed with hollow output
bores, output shafts can be fitted allowing hand of assembly to be changed
without dismantling the unit. Double extended output shafts are also
available. All Junior units are lubricated for life to reduce maintenance to
a minimum.
Midrange
Series A Midrange is offered in unit sizes 1002, 1252, 1602 and 2002 based
on a single universal case for each size, giving a high degree of common
parts and interchangeability. The Midrange meets the requirements of a wide
variety of applications in the medium power range up to 75kW or 100 HP. All
units are designed with hollow output bores, output shafts can be fitted
allowing hand of assembly to be changed without dismantling the unit.
Heavy Duty
Series A Heavy Duty units provide power capacity up to 835 kW or 1120 HP in
11 sizes from 400 to 24 with worm gear centers from 10cm to 61cm or 4" to
24". Motorized versions of all units are also available.
All units are fitted with high capacity
tapered roller bearings for generous overhung loads, position action oil
seals, oil level sight glass and drain holes. Flange mounted units with
vertical downshaft have drywells fitted as standard to eliminate a head of
oil on the low speed shaft seal and prevent oil leakage. Upper and lower
speed shaft bearings are grease lubricated when drywells are fitted. All
units can be supplied with holdbacks. Shaft extensions can be supplied with
metric or inch dimensions.
