STANDARD SP SYSTEMS:
The standard SP systems include the following components:
• Close-coupled pump and motor units for 3-phase 3450 RPM operation.
• Control valve for each pump.
• A temperature sensor and purge valve (mechanically operated) for the system.
• A bronze gate valve for the suction and discharge connection of each pump.
• A structural steel base.
• Galvanized steel suction and discharge headers with flanged ends.
• A pressure gauge for each header.
• A pressure switch to control the operation of the lag pump(s).
• A control panel in a NEMA-1 general purpose enclosure, comprised of a fusible disconnect switch and magnetic starter for each pump, manual transfer switch, transformers, HOA switches, pump-run lights, required time delays and terminal strip.
• All factory pre-piping and pre-wiring.

SYSTEM SELECTION:
Select the SP system rated for the next higher GPM and the next higher TDH. When fabricated, the pump impellers will be cut to deliver the exact GPM and head specified for the specific project.

SINGLE PHASE UNITS:
To price single phase SP systems (115V up thru 2 HP or 230V up thru 3 HP), use the list price of the applicable 3-phase system and add the differential between the 1-phase pumps and the 3-phase pumps as shown on the price pages type CC pumps (Section 5). No control differential is required.

1750 RPM SELECTIONS: 
To price SP systems operating at 1750 RPM, in lieu of the standard 3450 RPM, proceed as follows: 
1. Start with the list price of the applicable 3450 RPM system having the specified HP. 
2. Make the 1750 RPM pump selection (CG or CK pump) from the selection table or performance curves in Section 5.
3. Take the list price (and weight) differential between the desired 1750 RPM pump and the standard 3450 RPM pump and add it to the system list price from step 1 above. Double the differential for duplex system; triple for triplex system.
4. Change the last digit of the system number from -2 to -4.

SP OPERATING SEQUENCES:
Simplex: #1 runs constantly.
Duplex: #1 only; #1 with #2.
Triplex Type A: #1 only; #1 with #2; #1 with #2 and #3.
Triplex Type B: #1 (jockey) only; #1 (jockey) with #2; #1 (jockey) with #2 and #3.
Systems with Cushion-Stop tank: Same as above but with shut-off of #1 during periods of no water demand or low water demand.

CUSHION-STOP TANK AND CONTROL:
If lead pump shut-off is desired during periods of no water demand (or very small water demand), make the following list price addition for Cushion-Stop pressure switch, circuitry and tank, integrally assembled on the SP system base:

The standard Cushion-Stop tank is the Type FX Model FX-300V, 82 gallon nominal capacity, 150# maximum working pressure. If a larger capacity tank is desired, or if a 250# maximum working pressure rating is required, or if an ASME labeled tank is desired, use the list price shown above (and weight) plus the differential between the standard tank and the desired tank from Sec. 8, Page TANK-l. (Note: To determine the maximum working pressure of the tank, add the shut-off head of the pump to the maximum suction pressure available.)

SINGLE DISCONNECT SWITCH:
The standard SP control panel includes a fusible disconnect switch for each motor, with a thru-door off-on handle. If one fusible disconnect switch is preferred to disconnect both pumps of a duplex system or all three pumps of a triplex system, make the following list price deductions: 
Duplex unit   ---   $210
Triplex unit   ---   $300

Note: To substitute circuit breakers for the standard fusible disconnect switches in the SP control panel, refer to ABC Electric Corp.

ALARMS AND CUT-OUTS:
Any one alarm condition (high system pressure, low system pressure, high suction pressure, low suction pressure, etc.) Includes pressure switch plus alarm bell, silencer button and light in panel cover   ---   $900
If pump cut-out is to occur with the above alarm, add   ---   $195
For each additional alarm condition, add   ---   $435
For each additional cut-out condition, add   ---   $135

AUTOMATIC ALTERNATION:
For automatic alternation (every 24 hours) of the two pumps of a duplex system or the three pumps of a triplex Type A system or the two main pumps of a triplex Type B system (in lieu of the standard manual transfer switch, add   ---   $600

EPOXY COATED CONTROL VALVES:
SP control valves can be furnished with epoxy coating of the entire valve or of the valve cover only. The following list price additions apply to all valve sizes. Multiply by the number of valves involved.

NON-STANDARD CONTROL VALVES:
The standard SP control valve is cast iron with bronze trim, has 125# ASA flanged connections and an adjustable pressure range of 30# to 300#. If control valves larger than standard are required (do not reduce control valve size), or if control valves with stainless steel trim are preferred, use the differential between the standard valve and the desired valve from the table below (double for duplex, triple for triplex). List prices below also apply when ordering replacement valves (shipping weight 50# per valve).

NON-STANDARD HEADER SIZES:
To price SP systems with suction and discharge headers larger than the standard size (do not reduce header size), add the differential between the desired size and the standard size to the system list price. If the size of only one of the headers is to be changed, use half of the differential.

NON-FERROUS HEADERS AND/OR PIPING:
All standard SP systems are now built with copper/brass/bronze headers and connecting piping. No list price addition is, therefore, required for non-ferrous headers and/or connecting piping. For SP units with a cushion-stop tank, the standard connecting piping to the tank is also non-ferrous, and no list price addition is required. Some SP descriptive literature may still indicate that the standard SP system is furnished with galvanized steel headers and piping. This literature will be changed as quickly as possible. In the interim, the information shown above supersedes the uncorrected literature.

VIBRATION ISOLATION:
SP systems are not offered with vibration isolation devices under the individual pumps or on the individual pump suction and discharge connections. If flexible connectors are required for the ends of the system suction and discharge headers, use the Fed-Flex Type SF connection list prices shown on Sec.8, Page X-20. The hose connections are generally of the same size as the headers and of the minimum length shown. If a Type VR vibration rail set is required for installation under the system base, make the following list price and shipping weight additions:

ADDITIONAL PURGE VALVES:
The standard SP system has one temperature sensor and purge valve which is teed into each pump of the system. If a separate sensor and valve is required for each pump, make the following list price additions:
Duplex system   ---   $900
Triplex system   ---   $1800

ADDITIONAL PRESSURE GAUGES:
The standard SP system has one pressure gauge mounted on the discharge header and compound pressure gauge mounted on the suction header. If a pressure gauge is required for the pump discharge connections as well, add $360 list for each additional gauge required.

ELAPSED TIME METERS:
To add an elapsed time meter in the panel door, make the following list price addition per motor   ---   $510

UNASSEMBLED SYSTEMS:
If assembly of the SP system is to be done in the field, and the pipe and fittings are to be furnished by others, the following system components will be furnished to the buyer:
Simplex unit: (1) pump, (1) control valve, (1) purge valve, (1) control panel, (2) pressure gauges.
Duplex unit: (2) pumps, (2) control valves, (1) purge valve, (1) control panel, (2) pressure gauges, (1) pressure switch.
Triplex unit: (3) pumps, (3) control valves, (1) purge valve, (1) control panel, (2) pressure gauges, (1) pressure switch.

DIFFERING PUMP GPM RATINGS:
Duplex SP systems can be furnished with each of the two pumps having different GPM ratings. Triplex Type B systems can be furnished with each of the three pumps having different GPM ratings. Refer to ABC Electric.

PUMP SUCTION STRAINERS:
Pump suction strainers furnished as parts of the assembled SP system are not recommended. They are cloggable and can cause operating problems. If the water source contains foreign material, strainers and/or filters should be installed in the water supply system, ahead of and independent of the water pressure booster system.

OUTDOOR INSTALLATIONS:
To price an SP system for outdoor installation make the following additions:
(1) add for totally enclosed motors (Sec.8, Page X-3),
(2) add for watertight wiring (Sec.8, Page X-4),
(3) add for NEMA-4 control panel (refer to ABC Electric corp), and
(4) add for NEMA-4 pressure switch(es) (refer to ABC Electric corp).

FACTORY TESTS:
All units are factory tested after fabrication. Test reports and/or certified test curves can be furnished, if required, at no additional charge.

EXPORT BOXING:
The list price addition for export boxing of an SP system is 2% of the basic system list price. To determine the basic system list price for this purpose, include the list price addition for Cushion-Stop tank if applicable, since this modification effects the size of the box. Do not include list price additions for other modifications which do not effect the size of the box (e.g., non-ferrous piping, etc.).

UL LABELS FOR SP PANELS:
While SP panels are built with UL labeled components, since the circuitry is largely electronic, the complete panel does not carry a UL label on the door (which is required in certain U.S. cities). For special SP panels with UL labels, refer to ABC Electric Corp.

SP SYSTEMS WITH HORIZONTALLY SPLIT CASE PUMPS:
SP systems can be furnished with horizontally split case pumps but such systems are only available for field assembly. To price these systems, proceed as follows:
1. Price pump and motor units from Section 7.
2. Price the applicable control valves from Section 7A, Page SP-6.
3. Price the required number of pressure gauges at   ---   $360 each.
4. Price the temperature sensor(s) and purge valve(s) from Section 7A, Page SP-7.
5. Price the lag pump control pressure switch at   ---   $585.
6. Consult ABC Electric Corp. for list price of control panel.
All other gate valves and fitting are by others. All assembly, wiring and wiring material are by others.

SP SYSTEMS WITH FLEXIBLE COUPLED END SUCTION PUMPS:
SP systems can be furnished with flexible coupled end suction pumps either factory assembled or for field assembly. If the system is to be furnished for field assembly, price as shown above for systems with horizontally split case pumps, except price the pump and motor units from Section 6.

If the system is to be furnished factory assembled, proceed as follows:
1. Price the standard SP system from Section 7A, Page SP-1 & 2.
2. Add the list price differential between the standard close-coupled pumps (Section 5) and the required flexible coupled pumps (Section 6).
3. Add $2520 list to cover additional handling, larger crate, etc.

LEAD PUMP FAILURE CIRCUIT:
If the lead pump is called upon but fails to operate, the condition is sensed by a contact on the applicable magnetic starter, and this optional circuitry will automatically make the next pump the lead pump.

THERMAL SHUT-OFF OF LEAD PUMP:
If lead pump shut-off is desired during periods of no water demand (or very small water demand), an aquastat can be installed to sense a rise in discharge water temperature, and shut down the lead pump. If water demand rises, water will be evacuated from the pump discharge pipe, the water temperature will drop and the aquastat will turn on the lead pump. Required circuitry modifications in the control panel are included, including an adjustable pump-on time delay, the lag pump(s) continue to operate normally, being controlled by the lag-pump pressure switch, even when the lead pump is shut down by the thermal shut-off aquastat.
