MOTOR PROTECTION:
All 1-phase BFC units up thru 3/4 HP (1750 & 3450 RPM) are equipped with overload protection device built into the motor(s), and therefore do not require magnetic starters as standard equipment. All 1-phase BFC units, 1 HP and larger and all 3-phase BFC units are equipped with magnetic starters (for wall mounting) to provide overload protection for the motor(s) and to carry the line current.

STARTER NOTES:
1. For single-phase starters and combination starters (3 HP and less), use the applicable 3-phase list price. For 5 HP single phase, refer to factory.

2. The above magnetic starter and combination starter list prices cover equipment in NEMA-1 general purpose enclosures. For other enclosures, see Catalog Section 4, VSA price sheets.

3. Use 200V starter ratings for 208V circuits.

4. For list prices of manual starters and disconnect switches, see Catalog Section 4, VSA price sheets.

5. If combination starters are required in lieu of standard magnetic starters included in the basic unit, add the list price differential between the two types of starters (double the addition for duplex units).

6. For small H.P. single phase units which do not have magnetic starters as standard equip­ment, add the full list price of the magnetic starters or combination starters, if required (double the addition for duplex units).

MOUNTING AND WIRING CONTROLS ON THE UNIT:
Magnetic starters, when furnished with boiler feed units, are furnished for wall mounting, to be wired to the motors and boiler level control on the jobsite. If the specification calls for starters to be mounted on the unit and pre-wired to the motors, make the following list price additions:                               

TRANSFER SWITCHES AND ALTERNATORS:
Magnetic starters are required on all units using alternators or transfer switches. For units which do not have magnetic starters as standard equipment, make the necessary mag­netic starter addition (plus the addition for mounting and wiring the starters, if required).  Control voltage for these alternators and transfer switches is 240V maximum. All the alternator and transfer switch list prices shown below apply to control panels (wall or unit mounted) whose components are in separate enclosures. These list prices DO NOT apply to Type D or Type T single-enclosure control panels as described in Catalog Section 8, Bulletin 274. Alternators and transfer switches for the D & T panels are priced in Catalog Section 8, Price Pages X-5, 5A, 6 & 6A.

NON-STANDARD TANK SIZES:
The following are comparative receiver prices and weights for figuring BFC units with non-standard receiver sizes. The differential between the list price and shipping weight of the standard catalog size receiver and the specified size receiver should be added to (or deducted from) the basic unit list price and shipping weight.

2" brass perforated feed water heater pipe, mounted in the receiver, for steam injection, with all-bronze thermostatic temperature regulator valve and sensor.

STANDARD THERMOMETER:
All boiler feed units have a standard thermometer, mounted on the receiver head, as standard equipment. The standard thermometer is Ametek Fig. T-572 with 5" vertical scale, 1/2" NPT back angle connection, white enamel steel case, range 20-260°F. To add a standard thermometer on a condensate return unit   ---   $ 189

DUPLEX AND TRIPLEX WALL PANELS AND FLOOR PANELS (INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT ENCLOSURES):
Prices include the steel panel plus mounting and inter-wiring of the control components, but do not include the prices of the control components themselves. (Note: For single enclosure Type D and T panels, see Sec. 8, Pages X-5, 5A, 6 and 6A)

To price a triplex unit, add the list price difference between the duplex and single units to the list price of the duplex unit. Also add the shipping weight difference between the duplex and single units to the shipping weight of the duplex unit.

To price a quadruplex unit, add twice the list price difference between the duplex and single unit to the list price of the duplex unit. Also add twice the shipping weight difference between the duplex and single units to the shipping weight of the duplex unit.

Note that the units priced as indicated above will not pump transfer or sequencing switches. Prices for such switches must be added, if needed.

The following list prices cover the addition of a phenolic resin interior coating sprayed onto the interior surface of the receiver. If a suitable opening (such as a std. makeup valve mounting hole) is not included in the tank, a manhole must be added to the list price of the unit to permit the application of the lining.

Where specifications call for receivers to be "built in accordance with ASME standards for unfired pressure vessels, the standard tank construction will suffice. If the specification calls for the receiver to carry an ASME inspection label, make the following list price additions. All ASME labeled tanks are rated for 125# maximum working pressure and include a handhole (36" dia. tanks and under) or a manhole (42" dia. tanks and over) as standard equipment.

MAXIMUM DIMENSIONS OF BOILER FEED UNITS:
The following maximum dimensions apply to Federal factory-assembled boiler feed units:

HIGH WATER AND/OR LOW WATER ALARMS AND/OR CUT-OFFS:
