FEATURES

RECEIVER:
Standard receivers are available in cast iron or steel construction. Receiver top is to be installed flush with finished floor. Receiver covers have all required openings for pump, controls, and vent connection.   

PUMP: 
Vertical submerged centrifugal type of bronze fitted construction, with balanced bronze impeller, stainless steel shaft, vapor seal where the shaft passes through the support plate, raised ball thrust bearing in dust and moisture-proof housing. Renewable bronze sleeve type pump bearing protected by a mechanical shaft seal. Pump is flexibly coupled to motor. 

MOTOR:
Drip-proof, ball bearing, vertical, C-face design, for single phase or 3-phase operation  

FLOAT SWITCH:
One for each pump; pedestal mounted on tank cover, with adjustable copper float and brass rod; wired to motor or starter. 

STARTER: 
All 3-phase units and integral HP single phase units are furnished with a magnetic starter for each motor, mounted on the unit and wired to the float switch. Single phase fractional HP motors have built-in overload protective devices and do not require magnetic starters. 

MODIFICATIONS TO STANDARD UNITS 

ALTERNATING FLOAT SWITCH:  Replaces the two standard float switches on a duplex unit, to automatically alternate the cycle of operation of the pumps and provide simultaneous operation under peak conditions. 

MAKE-UP WATER VALVE:  In lieu of float switches where pumps are to be controlled by the boiler water level controller mounted on the boiler. Float (mechanically) operated and solenoid (electrically) operated make-up valves are available. 

NON-STANDARD TANK SIZES:  Units can be furnished with tank capacities other than those shown in the Engineering Selection Table. Diameters and depths of receivers as well as inlet location can be modified. Multiple inlets and top-of-tank inlets are available. 

NON-STANDARD MOTOR ENCLOSURES:  Standard enclosures are drip-proof. Totally enclosed and explosion-proof enclosures are available.

CONTROL PANELS: Control components can be furnished in pre-wired wall-mounting, floor-mounting or unit-mounting panels.

NON-STANDARD MOTOR CONTROLS:  Selector switches, pilot lights and transformers for motor starters; water-proof or explosion-proof enclosures for starters; combination starters and disconnect switches; combination starters and circuit breakers. 

LARGER UNITS:  For ratings in excess of those shown in the Engineering Selection Table, consult the factory or local Federal Pump representative.

Units operating at 1750 RPM, add -4 to unit number (example: RV-1020-4); units operating at 3450 RPM, add -2 to unit number (example: RV-1020-2).

Suggested Specifications for Architects and Engineers

Furnish and install as shown on plans a Simplex (or Duplex) Underground Condensation Return Unit, as manufactured by Federal Pump Corporation, Unit No. RV- _____, having a rated capacity of _____Sq. Ft. Equivalent Direct Radiation (E.D.R.) with pump capacity of _____G.P.M. (each) at a discharge head of _____P.S.I. at the pump(s). Unit to be completely assembled, vertical enclosed shaft type, comprising receiver and cover, pump(s), motor(s) and controls.

Pump(s) to be bronze-fitted centrifugal type, with balanced bronze impeller, stainless steel shaft and vapor seal where the shaft passes through the suspension plate. The motor pedestal shall have a raised ball thrust bearing enclosed in dust and moisture-proof housing. Pump bearing shall be renewable bronze sleeve type protected by a mechanical shaft seal.

Pump(s) shall be flexibly-coupled to _____H.P., _____phase, _____cycle, _____volt, _____R.P.M. drip-proof, ball bearing, induction motor(s).

Receiver shall be cast iron (or steel) construction, _____ins. dia. x _____ins. in depth. Tank cover shall be steel with necessary openings for pump(s), controls and vent connection.

(Each) pump shall be controlled by individual enclosed float switch, pedestal mounted on tank cover. (If alternation is desired on duplex units, specify an alternating float switch to alternate the cycle of operation of the pumps and provide simultaneous operation during peak load periods.)

Furnish a magnetic starter, mounted on unit and wired to the motor(s) and float switch(es) for each 3-phase motor or 1-phase motor in integral HP size. 1-phase motors in fractional HP size shall have built-in overload protection.
